Unyielding Cypress

from $250.00

Capture the raw, unyielding beauty of the California coast with this striking black-and-white study of a Monterey Cypress. This photograph was taken along the Cypress Grove Trail at Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, showcasing one of the last remaining native stands of these ancient trees in the world.

The high-contrast monochrome finish emphasizes the intricate, skeletal beauty of the tree’s wind-sculpted branches. Set against the vast, shimmering Pacific horizon, this "Silent Sentinel" tells a story of survival and resilience on the edge of the continent. This fine art print is a perfect choice for those who appreciate authentic coastal landscapes and the wild, untouched majesty of the Monterey Peninsula.

Printed with archival inks on museum-quality paper, each print is crafted to preserve color fidelity and detail for decades. This unframed, unmatted print is available in various sizes to suit your space.

Please note that colors may vary slightly between your screen and the final print due to monitor calibration.

Artist Note

"While most people flock to the 17-Mile Drive to see the 'famous' Lone Cypress, I’ve always found my way back to the Cypress Grove Trail at Point Lobos. There is something profoundly different about the trees here.

In this ancient grove—one of only two places on Earth where these Monterey Cypresses are truly native—the trees aren't just landmarks; they are survivors. They have been shaped by centuries of salt spray and Pacific gales, resulting in the gnarled, skeletal forms you see in this photograph.

I chose to capture this 'Silent Sentinel' in high-contrast black and white to strip away the distractions of color and focus entirely on its incredible texture and resilience. To me, this image represents the quiet strength of the California coast—wild, authentic, and untouched by the crowds."
